We offer this course in conjunction with a Certified 2 hour Dental Practice Act course which is also required by the Dental Board of California. \nView Fee Information \nRegistration Fee: $100\nTuition Fee: $240\nEquipment Fee: $100 \nTotal Cost: $440 \nView Details \nThe 8 hour Infection Control course is divided into three sections\, 4 hours of classroom training\, 2 hours of laboratory/pre-clinical instruction and 2 hours of clinical instruction. \nThe classroom portion of the course is presented in a comfortable classroom setting followed by the pre-clinical and clinical portions. During the clinical portion of the 8-hour Infection Control course students will learn adequate asepsis\, infection and hazard control and disposal of hazardous wastes that comply with the Dental Board’s regulations and other Federal\, State and local requirements. \nWe also cover protocols for Personal Protective Equipment\, equipment and supply infection control\, biohazardous waste\, OSHA training requirements for dental office employees\, management of training records\, management of occupational exposure to blood and body fluids\, infection control protocol for operatory set-up and clean-up\, infection control protocol during dental treatment\, disinfection\, sterilization\, sanitation\, barrier use\, surface disinfection\, and responsibilities of an infection control office in a dental office. \nOur California Dental Practice Act course fulfills the requirement for unlicensed dental assistants to take a one-time course in the California Dental Practice Act. Both the 8-hour Infection Control course and the Dental Practice Act course are required to receive an RDA license.

The course is a combination of classroom\, laboratory and clinical instruction.  You will receive a study guide to review before the program begins and to use as reference during the course. \n(Each student must have successfully completed a Board-approved 8-hour course in Infection Control and CPR prior to commencement of clinical experience.  Participants will be required to furnish evidence of having met these requirements.) \nView Fee Information \nRegistration Fee: $100\nTuition Fee: $500\nEquipment Fee: $60 \nTotal Cost: $660 \nView Details \nDuring the course\, you will learn;\n– Techniques for diagnostic quality radiographs\, including correct development and mounting of films\n– Safety procedures and techniques for handling radiographic equipment \nIn the classroom segment of the course\, we cover the history and development of radiographs and techniques used to obtain proper diagnostic films. At completion of this part of the course\, students must pass a written test with a minimum score of 75% before proceeding to the clinical and laboratory sections. \nDuring the lab portion\, students will perform hands on tasks on manikins and must complete all requirements for taking diagnostic quality radiographs before proceeding to the clinical portion of the course. \nThere is an outside segment of the course where each student is required to perform three diagnostic quality\, full mouth x-ray surveys under the supervision and with the verification of a licensed dentist. These surveys will be submitted and reviewed by the program teaching staff. \nThe clinical and final portion of the course consists of taking radiographs on patients and submitting those mounted radiographs to the teaching staff for evaluation on the final day of the program.
